List of books to buy/study for DGCA pilot theory exams

Which are the books I should buy and study for becoming a pilot? What are the theory subjects and books recommended for that? We used to get these questions from students on a daily basis. This article addresses your query.

First of all, let us consider the subjects for DGCA theory exams.

For Commercial Pilot License General (CPLG):

1. Aviation Meteorology
2. Air Regulation
3. Air Navigation
4. Technical General
5. Technical Specific
6. Radio Telephony Restricted (Aero)

For Commercial Pilot License Conversion General (CPLCG)

This is for those who wish to fly abroad or wish to do conversion of license. We recommend students to clear exams before going abroad for flying.

1. Aviation Meteorology
2. Air Regulation
3. Air Navigation

In these subjects, CPLCG has got a combined exam named Composite, comprising of both Meteorology and Air Navigation. It however reduces passing chances as students have to study more for a single exam. So we advice to clear these three exams individually than going for composite exam.

Oxford has published a list of books, covering all subjects. However, they are very costly. Entire pack costs around 90,000 Rs INR + import fees and applicable taxes.
