Welcome to RTR Aero (WPC) training program for commercial pilots and pilot trainees under DGCA, India. This program is precisely made to enable you get RTR license easily, optimising your efforts. RTR Aero is the license issued by Wireless Planning Commission of India to commercial pilots granting them permission to use aeronautical radio equipment to communicate with other aircraft, ground installations etc. Exam to issue license is conducted every 2 months totaling 6 attempts per year in 5 centers across India. Centers are Delhi (x 2 times), Kolkata, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Chennai. Exam fees is 500 Rs, payable online.
The exam is divided into 2 parts. First part is a Viva or practical test. You will be given an aviation headset and a question set of normally 5 questions. Each question will be about an imaginary route. You should communicate with an RT officer with another aviation headset in some other corner so that both of you wont be facing each other. You have to communicate with him following correct procedure and write down the communication real-time. 20 minutes is the total time you get. You will be awarded marks based on your performance. If you pass in the first session, you will be called for the second phase.
Second part of RTR examination is the interview part. A DGCA official and Wireless Planning Commission official will conduct separate interviews. They may ask questions on radio principles, navigation, technical aspects of instruments, rules & regulations etc. If they are satisfied by your performance, you will be issued the license.
