Shivangi Singh becomes Indias first women pilot to fly Rafael fighter jet aircraft. Flight Lieutenant Shivangi Singh was part of the Indian airforce tableau held on Wednesday in New Delhi. She also becomes the second female fighter jet pilot after Bhawna Kanth. The theme for this year’s IAF tableau was “Indian Airforce, Transforming for the Future”.
The Tableau came on Rajpath showing the scaled down models of Rafale Jets, 3D surveillance radar system called Aslesha MK-1 and the indigenously developed light combat helicopters.
Shivangi Singh joined the Airforce in the year 2017 and is a product of the second batch of women fighter pilots. Shivangi Singh flew a MiG21 Bison before getting her hands on Rafale. Hailing from Varanasi, she is now part of the IAF’s Golden Arrows squadron in Ambala, Punjab. She was selected as a Rafale pilot after a stringent selection process in 2020.
